About the ACC Symposium

On behalf of the University of Notre Dame, we could like to officially invite you to the 2015 ACC Student Leadership Symposium: Inspiring Inclusion, Creating Community, Launching Leaders. Like in past years, this year’s symposium will be a three day conference focused on growing the bond between the 15 schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference by strengthening the education of their student leaders. This year’s symposium will take place on February 27- March 1, 2015 in Notre Dame, Indiana.

Every year the ACC Student Leadership Symposium focuses on a different theme, and this year we have chosen to center the discussions on inclusion within all our various student bodies. Throughout the three days, delegates will engage in various networking activities, workshops, and social events to help increase each delegate’s knowledge on inclusion, community and leadership. The goal of the conference is give each delegate new skills that they can use back on their own campus to help all students at their university feel included. During the conference, delegates will be placed into one of nine groups, each focused on a different arena of inclusion. Each group will work together to create a final presentation that the group will present in front of the entire symposium on the final day. The potential groups in which delegates will be placed are:

  • Race/Ethnicity

  • Religion

  • Sexual Orientation

  • Physical Ability

  • Family Background

  • Socio/Economic Status

  • Physical Appearance

  • Immigration Status

  • Gender

Delegates will be randomly placed into each group, but they will be given time to network with all students at the conference and receive background information to be able to be informed upon arrival to Notre Dame.

Thank you in advance for your participation. We are hoping that through this conference we will not only strengthen the education of student leaders, but also strengthen the ACC family as a whole. If you have any questions please feel free to email us at sklotter@nd.edu or jrangel2@nd.edu. Hope to hear from you soon.
